Mixquell lives in the menu bar, not the Dock. Look for the speaker icon at the top right of your screen, or press Shift+Cmd+S. Right-click the icon for Settings and the welcome guide.
That permission is the only way macOS lets an app change another app's volume. Mixquell processes audio while it plays and records nothing. Without the permission you can still switch output devices, but per-app volume will not work. You can grant it later under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, then relaunch Mixquell.
Only apps that are actually producing sound are listed. Start playback and it appears within a second. Some apps keep a silent audio stream open when paused, which is normal.
Some protected content, such as films in the TV app, delivers silence to any app that tries to process it. Rather than leave you with no sound, Mixquell releases that app and hands it straight back to macOS. Press Retry when the app is playing something else.
Two things to check. First, ducking applies to apps you have adjusted in Mixquell, so move that app's slider once. Second, open Settings → Calls and confirm your call app is on the list; add it with “Add app…” if it is not.
Right-click its chip in the panel and choose Delete.
Yes, in Settings → Shortcuts. You can set one for the panel, one to cycle output devices, and one per profile.
Turn Boost off for that app if it is on above 100%. If the problem persists, tell us the audio device you are using, including its sample rate from Audio MIDI Setup, and we will look into it.
Press Ctrl+Option+M, click the microphone icon in the menu bar, or use the Microphone row in the panel. The icon is quiet when nothing is listening, tinted when an app is using your microphone, and red while you are muted. You can change the shortcut, or hide the icon, in Settings → General and Settings → Shortcuts.
No. macOS provides no per-app microphone control to any app, so Mixquell mutes the input device itself. That mutes you in every app at once.
A few interfaces, mostly professional USB and Thunderbolt boxes, expose neither a mute switch nor an input level to macOS. Mixquell says so plainly and disables the button rather than pretending. Use your device's own hardware mute, or switch to a different input.
No. It unmutes when it quits, and if it is ever forced to quit while muted it undoes the mute the next time it starts. It never starts a session muted.
Mixquell stops controlling your apps and hands them back to macOS at their normal volume, so nothing is left muted or quiet. The panel still opens and can still switch your output device. Buying unlocks everything again without a restart.
Open Settings → Purchase and press “Restore purchase”. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought it with.

macOS 14.2 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. Mixquell is a single app with no drivers or system components; deleting it removes everything it added.
